What Members Thought

This is one of those books that I couldn't wait to review, as it was just so much fun to read and think about long after I had finished. It has so many elements that I love seeing in books and everything was orchestrated perfectly.
While I enjoyed Red, White & Royal Blue, I loved this one twice as much. It is full of quirky characters, drag shows, pancakes, private investigations, psychics, time travel, pop culture, etc. I liked the setting, as well. It really captured the essence of Brooklyn.

4.5 stars from me!
Well, I loved this. It was sweet and quirky and had a ton of music references. Casey McQuiston captured my heart with Red, White & Royal Blue and now she's done it again with One Last Stop. While Red, White and Royal Blue was realistic fiction, One Last Stop has a scifi/fantasy twist, and I LOVED it!

I loved Red, White and Royal Blue so very much. I went into One Last Stop very nervous that this novel couldn't live up to those expectations. And in a certain way I was right- it is not quite as ideal in my estimation. But don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good, readers! One Last Stop is super adorable. We have some tropes that really hit what current romance readers seem to want- there's a journey through New York City and a strong sense of place. There's a found family of welcoming pe

This book was a fun mystery with a supernatural twist. I really enjoyed all of the characters, and it was so exciting to hear about the 1970s through Jane's perspective. I, a middle aged woman, was a little disenchanted by the electric chemistry between Jane and August, though, because it was just chemistry and not really well developed about why they liked each other so much (maybe I'm just nervous about that Prince Charming stereotype that love is instant and magic and forever). I also don't l

I tried to read this as slowly as possible to really savor it. Loved it so much. I especially loved the last few chapters of the book, the writing so beautifully depicted August & Jane's connection. I also appreciated that this book was broader than a romance, it also had a mystery, family dynamics, and lots of good depictions of community.

Please don't look at how long this book took me to finish as a sign that it is boring, slow, or not incredible. I blame my lack of focus on the pandemic and also being WAY too excited to have received an advanced copy.
I guess it's appropriate that I finally finished this queer time traveling romance during Pride.
Casey McQuiston has become one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read what they put out next.
