Wow. Seriously, this is a sweeping, ambitious, and beautiful book - believe the hype. I loved Addie and her strength and determination, as well as her cunning and her survival skills. My favorite parts were definitely watching her relationship with Henry, but the back and forth helped me get to know both of them (though I had to be careful with the Henry parts to double check the dates because I got mixed up a couple times). The dreamy writing and the strange magical scenarios had such an Erin M

So first, the writing is beautiful. But honestly, I’m almost gave up in the first hundred pages because it drags. And then it drags for another 100 pages.

V.E. Schwab has tapped into some truths of humanity here, and has done so in a creative way. I was worried that there might have been too much hype surrounding this novel, but the hype seemed warranted in my eyes, and I am certain to have this story in my head for a long time. I didn't want the book to end because I was afraid of how a story like this might need to be resolved, so I read it slowly and postponed the ending for as long as possible :)

I read a lot - and this book is why I read. Sometimes you find a book that you want to jump into, a book that you don't want to end and so you savor the last few chapters or pages. I loved this book so much.
This is the story of Adeline LaRue - she makes a deal with darkness and while she gains freedom, she lives an immortal life where no one will ever remember her.
