Wow.
This book was about everything: racism, sexism, gender dysphoria, family, mother, daughters, sisters, colorism, fathers, domestic violence, segregation, class warfare, forgetting, white privilege , white flight, and a bunch of other things I’m not remembering. So much is covered but it never feels forced and is accomplished so elegantly.

I really liked this story about twin sisters Stella and Desirae, two women living in Louisiana. While the sisters are African American, one chooses to "pass" as white and leaves her friends and life behind.
This story is really all about who we are and we who choose to be. My favorite section of the book was when we see Stella through her own eyes - how she hides and lies about who she is and the consequences of her choices.
