What Members Thought

Jen Ifer's Inklings
This book was so good. It really highlighted the difference between being white, white passing, and Black. The story of the two twin sisters and their daughters and the different paths that their choices as teenagers took them was very interesting to follow. I loved Jude and Reese's storyline, too. ...more

I listened to this as an audiobook after seeing it on the bestseller list and a Goodreads Award Winner and was not disappointed. It focuses on twin girls that run away to Nee Orleans as teenagers to live their lives in different ways—one passes as a white girl and her family has no clue of her background; the other marries a black man and lives her life as she knows it. The book deals with a lot of issues on race, gender, and family drama. Really good read!

3.5 stars. It was good but I think because of all the rave reviews I had super high expectations. For some reason, I just couldn’t go all in on this one.
