Books are illegal, and firemen start fires instead of putting them out. I would definitely have a hard time in that dystopian future. This was a nice, quick read, with a hint of suspense, and an interesting premise.

Set in a future when books are illegal and thinking or feeling are regarded as sedition, Fahrenheit 451 tells the story of Montag, a fireman. In Bradbury's version of the future, fireman don't put out fires, they start fires in order to burn down the houses of people caught with books. Montag meets a young, free-spirited girl who opens his eyes to the world and starts him questioning his life.

Thought I had written a review of this. It didn't age as well as I would have thought, primarily due to sexism. However the author's fear that we will turn into worshipers of the idiot box -- that came true. If you take into account when it was written, his distopian views are fascinating and frightening. ...more
