Loved this, it was a great tale and I struggled whether I liked Evelyn throughout.

Taylor Jenkins Reid takes readers on a roller-coaster ride of emotions. Upon meeting Evelyn Hugo, the former actress appears to be just another Hollywood socialite. As Monique reveals the layers of Hugo's life, she realizes that the actresses fought her way to the top. While determined to succeed, the people Evelyn loved were worth more to her than trophies.

Fiercely guarding the secrets of her past, Monique doesn't understand why Evelyn chosen her to write the article or memoir. Articulating vi

Okay. Okay. It won me over. For the first 20% or so I thought it was shallow, I thought it was blandly written, I thought it had nothing new to say about Hollywood or fame or women.

And by the end I still thought those things, but DAMN IT if the strings that were in plain sight all along didn't tug at my heart nonetheless. She knows what she's doing, this author. As always, I wish there were half stars on GR, this is a classic 3.5 star book.

Evelyn Hugo, aging Hollywood icon, is ready to have her biography written and she requests Monique Grant to write it. The "tell-all" book will be an exclusive look into Evelyn's life in Hollywood and her seven marriages which have kept tabloids and paparazzi following her for decades.

I liked the style of this book and the way Evelyn's story unfolded. Through her conversations with Monique we learn about Evelyn's unapologetic fight to take and get what and who she wants in life, and her experienc

I'd give this book 4.5 stars, if I could.

I gotta say, Taylor Jenkins Reid really knows what to do with fictional stars and interview novel formats. After reading Daisy Jones a few years ago, I wasn't sure what this book would offer and I didn't know a lot going into it, except that my college-aged cousin recommended it. Evelyn Hugo and her interviewer Monique are absolutely wonderful characters to lose yourself in - although neither of them are really above reproach in their lives - and the auth

I will finish this today. It has turned into total drivel, for me. An easy, hearty “do not recommend.” It's totally ridiculous. ...more
