She's a femme fatale, literally, growing up in a patriarchy that worships beauty but is clueless about love. Two sisters exhibit different aspects of their father's personality with Alooyah attracted to fashion and money and Korede the nurse to toughness. The former also inherits his knife, hence her titular status.

Really good audiobook; worthwhile to hear the Nigerian names pronounced accurately and the accents; helps with suspension of disbelief.

The book is quite an experience; themes of beauty, love and our responsibility to truth and honor are the focus but told with a sly humor and world weariness. Quite a piece of work.
