This is an amazing novel about one child's path to discovering their identity as well as that child's family's journey with them. I really enjoyed this book but it took me a while to read it, in part because I was absorbing the writing. I am looking forward to reading more by this author. This book felt magical in part because of the fairy tales told. ...more

Such a heart wrenching story to read, but inspirational at the same time. I kept wondering what I would do and say and how I would feel and act if I were Claude’s mom. The parents in this novel are remarkable. Understanding and scared. Protective and empowering. I think every parent should read this.
