What Members Thought

Reluctant 4 stars. This author is extremely long winded. She has a habit of giving you a tiny spurt of excitement and then follows that up with HOURS and HOURS of inner monologuing and inconsequential ramblings. So this book had great characters and a good plot with a satisfactory ending but damn, it took what felt like a thousand hours to finish.

I have enjoyed French's Dublin Murder Squad books so much that I expected to like this one as well. Sadly, I didn't, although I recognize the artistry with which it was written (hence the four stars). The narrator and main character is somewhat difficult to like even though he is presented sympathetically at first.
