What Members Thought

Amanda
In the long run, after hearing much said about this book, I expected it to be much worse than it turned out to be really. I really am a fan of a good time-travel caper, with the antics and twists that only come from those, when people decide to throw their hats into the ring about it, and I'm definitely still left with the want to see the play on stage, if/when I make it to London or it makes it to America. ...more

There were quite a few things I really enjoyed about this play and the things thought were ok were still good. I loved the new characters, particularly Scorpious. He was funny and endearing; a real treat of a character. Albus reminds me of the sullen, moody Harry of books 4 & 5. Not surprising as this is the age Albus is for most of the play.
The grown up characters of Harry, Ron, and Hermione are well written into adulthood and make me happy.
All together charming and worth the read.

We read about Albus Potter, Harry's second and middle child who has a very strained relationship with his famous father. I can't say much or I will reveal the lovely story that unfolds - we see old friends and make new ones. We even see friends we never thought we would ever see again. This story made me weep at par ...more

Very fast read. I feel guilty really disliking something in the Harry Potter universe, but I really disliked this--lots of angst--maybe it was the script format-maybe I would have liked a book-but would not recommend....

Except I do like the character Scorpius

It was actually better than I thought it would be. I was sceptical of the script format, but once I got used to it the story developed nicely.

Not as good as the books, though I didn't expect it to be given it's a screenplay and not written by Rowling, but still a great and compelling story. ...more

I liked this book for what it was. Does it read like books 1-7? No. But it's not supposed to. ...more
