This book is what I would put in the category of "gentle reads". Nothing particularly bad happens here, unless you count the death of Amy, Sara's penpal. But that death happens off screen and before Sara arrives, so you have no emotional connection to her at the beginning of the story. So what you really have is the story of a small town and its inhabitants, and how they react to a stranger in their midst.

A perfectly nice read. Perhaps like the people of Iowa, where the book takes place, this book is perfectly nice. Sarah has just arrived from Sweden in Broken Wheel Iowa. She is to meet her book pen pal, Amy only Amy has just passed away. Sara meets all sorts of interesting townsfolk and decides to give back to the town by opening a bookshop. The bookshop seems to transform the town into something it was many years ago before the shops closed up and people moved away. I enjoyed this story - it mo
