This book is fantastic! I am a huge fan of this author and am always amazed by his storytelling abilities. From seven-year-old Elsa's point of view, you get the unfolding of several stories of the people who live in her building. I love how Blackman interweaves the fantastical with some very hard, complicated human stories - showing that the complexities of personality cannot be stereotyped and that people are inevitably shaped by their relationships. Beautiful storytelling!
