Not for the fainted hearts!!! The story of Cora needs to be digested slowly.. it felt so far yet very near.. it felt like coming from another era.. but very relevant with current days. This is a story about how a nation as big as America has started their greatness in a really, really wrong way. The horrors, the sadness and the meanness of it, united into a touching and important story. Sometimes we need to wake up from our delusion and face the harsh reality. Highly recommended!

The bit about the underground railroad actually being like a subway was alright, but that's not why you should read this book. The rules for the subway are, you don't know where it's going to take you. This means that you wind up playing a game of Let's Make a Deal with the characters trying to figure out if they should stay there or risk trying somewhere else. The awesome part about this is that it gives us a chance to explore various parts of the country and what it's like to be a slave/escape
