I know I am like the only person on the planet to dislike this book, but ugh. Sorry not sorry.
Jason is a fairly unimpressive physics professor who gave up groundbreaking work to get married to Daniela (who also gave up her work!) and have a family. But what if he didn't? What if there is another Jason out there that never got married? How do the choices we make impact our future? Is there a happier Jason out there? Are we living in the multiverse?
Turns out I did not care. The action starts almos

Interesting premise. The narrative was twisty and turn-y to maintain suspense but let one major question unanswered. I would read that sequel.
Would also make a fantastic, trippy movie.

3.5 stars. Loved the concepts here! Intriguing to navigate ideas about the multiverse playing out in the plot.

Wasn't super keen on the writing style. A little heavy-handed and cheesy at moments. Very... dude-ly. The female characters exist to propel the main character's journey. That said, I did have fun with this book and was glad to finally read it.

I was about halfway through this book when I woke up this morning to no power or internet so I got comfy and started reading. Even when the power came back on, I could not stop reading until I found out how this book ends!

This is an entertaining, intriguing, compelling book. It wasn't quite as good as Recursion, which I read yesterday. This book feels a bit like a warm-up to that one. Some of the ideas and plot points carry over from one to the other, in the same way that, say, Dan Brown has a specific formula for how his stories unfold. That's not a critique—both Dark Matter and Recursion work very well. I just recommend reading this book first. But you can tell Crouch's thinking and narrative skill improved bet ...more

This book really didn’t do much for me. I’ll give some credit for the idea behind it being interesting but some parts just ended a little too conveniently and I felt like the overarching story was fairly lame.

This was the best book I have read in a while. I didn't want to put it down. Recently I read a short story by Jorge Luis Borges (The Garden of Forking Paths) that kind of reminds me of this, as well. Weird how you can stumble on the same ideas from completely different sources within a short time of each other. ...more
