This would have been a 5-star review, if it weren't for the sex scene towards the end of the book between the 15-year old protagonist, Y.T., and her 'boyfriend', Raven. Having been a fairly sexually active young teenager myself, and having hung around other young sexually active teenage girls, I can tell you with some certainty, that sex did not feel like that, we did not think like that, it did not happen like that.

You can't get hurt by looking at a bitmap. Or can you?
Another modern classic that I never got around to reading before. In my questionable defense: when this book first came out, I didn't read it, because I confused it with Snow Bound (a book I HAD read), because there was no GoodReads back then to set me straight, so I thought I'd read it already ... Snow Crash is simply a brilliant piece of work. It serves as a great introduction to linguistics, to sociology, to computers. Stephenson contributes to the cyberpunk genre with an incredibly skilled and articulate tongue, satirizing and yet equally loving the constraints (and liberties) of a future-real that is not so different from the present reality.

I am still not sure what this was about
This was a fascinating world, especially in this day and age looking back to what computers were when this was written. But, the plot was a bit heavy and a bit confusing. I liked the characters foe the most part, found the history fascinating, found other parts to be vulgar, and enjoyed other parts. So, a good sci-fi book that makes you think.
