It's rare for a book to truly surprise me - this one did. When a book really gets me it is utterly delightful. It kinda makes me feel giddy. This book is about Ani - a twenty-something striving for the perfect life in NY. She works at a magazine, wears fabulous clothes and is marrying "old money." Sure, she can some across as cold and calculating. Sure, she has some peculiar sexual proclivities. As we read, we see Ani and those around her come to light. For you who expected another Gone Girl-ish book, prepare to be disappointed!! The narrator, instead of being unreliable and mysterious, just being simply annoying. The plot did not go smoothly, and the ending is just... lazy. Too many things tried to be covered here but the way the issues been discussed is just very bland. Too bad!
This felt like 2-3 different books.
