What Members Thought
I ended up really loving the first book in this series after a slow start, so I wasn’t concerned when it took me some time to get into this one, as well. Then it picked up and really captivated me and I was hooked…until about 50 pages remained and nothing was coming together in a way that made any sense and the violence meter was unnecessarily cranked up to 11. I wanted to love it, and I did live the atmosphere created, but this one lost some magic for me.
I really enjoyed the first 1/2 to 2/3, but felt it could have been tightened up a bit towards the end... seemed to delay the inevitable, and with some editing, could have been a more exhilarating read.
Too long and too violent. I liked it, but Shadow of the Wind is much better.
