3,5 stars for me because I have mixed feelings about this book. I totally love the chapters and parts about Noah and Brian, their developing relationships and struggles to find their identities. But I am not interested in Jude's parts, especially the ones where she describes her crush and love for Oscar. It's too typical and quite disappointing for this book, that in my opinion can do more than that. Too bad.

this book is gorgeously written and I know it's neither the book nor the author's fault I'm having this reaction but, you know, fuck this book. how do you rate something so lovely and emotionally evocative when you loathed one of the core conceits so, so much, you cannot think about anything else? I guess you just don't rate it.

I liked this at first. Then I fell in love with it. I couldn't put it down. I haven't felt this way finishing a book in a while; I loved the characters, the creativity, the writing, and how it made me feel.
