This book is amazing. I cannot for the life of me understand why I picked it up soon after it came out and only read like 30 pages, because it's gripping and compelling and new and fresh and sad and poignant and fucking great.

Great book.......AMAZING ending. I don't know why, but although I enjoyed the entire story, only the last 40 pages or so really spoke to me and moved me. Throughout the rest of the book you are teased with a snippet of the future, then thrown back into the past to hear how that future comes about, and for some reason this back and forth and tease annoyed me.

My only complaint about the Kindle version of this book is the inability to make the illustrations from Max's sketchbook larger. I would have liked to see those in better detail/resolution. Overall, this book tells a beautiful and heartbreaking story (which is funny since the narrator is Death), and has many wonderful characters.
