I wasn't even aware that Lewis had written a novel (and was quite surprised to find that it was written about a pre-Christian era!). As is true with pretty much every other C.S. Lewis book I've read (I really haven't read all that many), I had to take this one slowly. Even though this is a novel, it's not exactly light reading -- especially toward the end when the symbolism gets deep. (I am pretty sure this is where Lewis's Christianity comes through, though.)

I pulled this from the shelves because it seemed appropriate to read something by C.S. Lewis while in Belfast (his hometown). I had to go look up the story of Cupid and Psyche because I wasn't really familiar with it before starting this book. This story, told from the perspective of Psyche's sister, was a lovely analysis of the desire to be loved and the desire to love.
