I originally read this many years ago (maybe in 1999) and just finished re-reading for book club. I don't think my feelings about the book changed, as I still enjoyed it greatly. However, in the 15+ years since I first read this book, I've read many more books with similar themes. If this was my first time reading it, I don't think I'd be as blown away as I was during my initial reading. I LOVED this book. Parts of it were a little hard for me to read. I identified very closely with the main character in some ways and it almost hit a little too close to home. But I was amazed by how a man could really write so well from a woman's POV. There were times while I was reading it where I thought to myself "how does he do it?!" I will definitely be looking to read more by Wally Lamb in the future.
