I liked the way this mystery was presented ... a sort of "locked-room" crime ... and I liked seeing how Poirot interviewed each suspect one by one and then put his "little grey cells" to excellent use. I don't remember if I had read this a long time ago, or if I had seen any film adaptation (looking forward to Kenneth Branagh's interpretation of Poirot!), so the ending was a complete surprise to me.

I selected this as my choice for the "book made into a movie you've already seen" prompt for the 2018 PopSugar Ultimate Reading Challenge. Somehow, I managed to avoid the spoilers for this one, so I was able to enjoy the latest movie adaptation of this classic mystery and was genuinely surprised by twist. I first read this when I was a teenager and it blew my mind. For a long time I thought that I would reread it once enough time had gone by that I forgot how it ended, but it's such a memorable reveal that I never forgot. On reading it again as an adult, it's still a lot of fun, but definitely didn't hit me the same way as it did back then.

I've read this classic several times, so this time I listened to it narrated by David Suchet. Obviously he's the ultimate Poirot, but his American and female voices leave something to be desired. I still prefer Hugh Fraser for Christie novels.
