I loved this book! I can see why other reviewers might think the ideas here are a little "woo woo" or "out there" - such as talking to your clothes and talking to your house - but this book has inspired me to clean, tidy, and de-clutter my room. I realize I already follow several of her philosophies, even before I started reading this. So much of what she says makes sense- such as, not letting your family see you tidy, because they'll say things like "Why are you getting rid of that? Don't you w

I can honestly say that I learned things from this book that have already changed my life. In my hallway are five large boxes full of books and clothing, waiting to be collected by a local charity shop. It's just the tip of the iceberg.
The reason I give the book four stars is that, for the first 40 pages or so, Miss Kondo repeats the initial message several times. In essence, "if you use my system, it will be great..." You've already got me, Marie - I've bought your book and I'm ready to get do ...more

- when decluttering, handle each item and ask yourself, "does this give me joy?" If it d ...more

Some really good suggestions and a few rather strange ones. Never, ever ball up your socks! Made me want to get started on the "tidying" process, however I will not be talking to my clothes.
