[2008 review] Maybe I read this book so fast (in less than 24 hours -- not even enough time to put it on the old currently reading shelf) because the main character is always longing to lose herself in a book. This is a very DWJ story; it's billed as a sequel to Howl's Moving Castle, but those characters take a backseat to Charmain, a cranky bookworm left in charge of a wizard's house, and a typically complex series of mysteries and entanglements. Totally fun read, tho' not my favorite of hers.

It's sequel to Howl's Moving Castle, and we will meet Howl, Sofie and Calcifer, too, even though the main character is Charmaine, baker's daughter, who finds out she's a witch, and helps to solve a mystery.
It's Diana Wynne Jones, quality fantasy for children, though enjoyable for adults as well. ...more

awwww, Dinkle.

Fun and fast read with lots of nice twists and turns in the plot. Fun connections to Howl's Moving Castle as characters reappear.
