I enjoyed this book, but it didn't grab me the way that Anansi Boys did. The style was very similar to something like Grimm's fairy tales. While I've been really enjoying fairy tale retellings, somehow the characters in this story never grabbed me. The ending also felt rushed and somehow disappointing. Still, I'm interested in seeing the movie and glad that I read the book.

Also, I think I might have enjoyed this more if I'd had the illustrated version. The kindle version that I read didn't have ...more
