This is my 4th Gaiman novel. And I can officially put down that Mr. Gaiman is just not for me. I enjoyed this movie so I know the story itself is enjoyable. But I am not a fan of the author's writing style. It does not do a good job keeping and holding my attention.

The movie was more magical then the book. I have rarely said that in my life, but it's true none the less. The journey of the characters were much longer than the movie, but the growth of the characters were not clearly felt. I didn't care as much about their journey while reading it.

I enjoyed this book, but it didn't grab me the way that Anansi Boys did. The style was very similar to something like Grimm's fairy tales. While I've been really enjoying fairy tale retellings, somehow the characters in this story never grabbed me. The ending also felt rushed and somehow disappointing. Still, I'm interested in seeing the movie and glad that I read the book.
