These are the kind of fairy tales I like to read. Fairy tales that contain wicked witches, beautiful stars, unicorns, magic, trees that speak, wizened wise old men, bitter family feuds and love.
This is the story of Tristran Thorn, yes. But first it begins with the story of his father and before that a mystery where the ending is clear, but the beginning is not. It's a story based on the mythical village of Wall, where only a wall separates the land of man from the land of fairy.

Amazing amazing amazing. I love this book. I just finished it last night- read it in one day- and I'm tempted to pick it back up and read it again. I just love the fairy tale aspect of it. I love the falling star and the witches seeking youth and the charms and the curses. Ah! I love it! And it's one of those rare situations where the movie is just as good as the book. Good times all around. Read it if you haven't already.

This was such a simple sweet book, a children's book of stories really. No, as some have offered up, this is not a book of great depth. But what I love about it is the clear ring of a good story, combined with great good and great evil. It's a hero's journey. It is magic. It's what made me love books in the beginning.

This was the first Neil Gaiman book that I had heard and I really liked the story. He reads the book which definitely adds something to the audiobook.
