Writing this book had to be quite a challenge. How do you address a group of people known for their ability to get lost inside themselves and in books by writing a book that tells them what's going on inside their own heads?
The author does an excellent job addressing, explaining, and clarifying her subject matter. She takes a collection of research and brings it effectively to life in understandable ways.

It took me a while to read this and I read several books in between, but it was an interesting read and I got into it again at the end. I definitely related to the introvert child Cain describes in the last chapter. Overall I think there's an introvert/extrovert spectrum and not too many people are clearly one or the other, but I found some of the advice helpful and definitely related to some of the descriptions of introverts throughout the book. Whether or not you are an introvert, you certainly live or work with one, since we make up about a third of the population as a whole. As an introverted public school teacher, I could relate to much of this book. I had several lightbulb moments about why being in the classroom has gotten so much harder for me over the years. The switch to noisy, collaborative classroom environments is as hard on introverted teachers, not only introverted kids.
