man, this is the thing about Jeffery Deaver - you think you have it figured out, and then you don't, and then you REALLY don't.
i mean, i really thought i had this one figured out. at least, the beginning. but oh no.
the unsub here was "the conjurer", who knows magic. and i wonder what it was like for deaver to write this, because he is the master of misdirection in the thriller, and the case was all about misdirection. it's almost as if deaver was "the conjurer" at the same time.
