I will own a hardcover version of this one soon enough, but I could not pass up the audiobook when they announced Cecil would be doing the voice of the audiobook. Why ever would I read it on my screen if the same narrator for all my Welcome to NightVale episodes could be reading me the whole book? I just couldn't and that's why it was on pre-order from the exact say they announced it, and I was listening to it from the first moment I could after that.

I laughed and grinned and made awed faces, a

I need to preface this review by saying that I have never listened to the "Welcome to Night Vale" podcast. Perhaps if I had, I wouldn't have said to myself, on a regular basis while listening, "What the hell am I listening to?". I was excited to borrow this as an audiobook, as it is read by the voice actor for the podcast. It was pretty close to being an episode, though I kept thinking ‘it’s been about 15 minutes, time for the weather and then wrapping up what had happened.’ But I really did like the characters and all of the odd bits that make up Nightvale.

I mainly used this to go to sleep to this time around, but I still enjoyed listening to this.

I thought I would like this more than I did. It has all the great weirdness of the podcast, and I liked seeing Night Vale from the POV of characters other than Cecil, but for me I think I prefer learning about Night Vale in smaller audio chunks. Still good to read if you love the podcast.
