I am falling so far behind on some of my goodreads reviews. I finished this book two months ago and never wrote about it. I loved this book, although I took some issues with it. The main storyline was my least favorite of the trilogy, although I liked the idea of "the arena" applied on a different scale. It was literally an arena, but it also felt like a metaphor for, you know, life, resistance, struggle, etc. The themes that have been building through the trilogy really come to a head in this b

The final book in the triology which was wonderful. As adults, we often turn away from books labeled as young adult, but this is a great read. Set in an alternate, but familiar world, it follows the lives of a group of young people as they play adult games for their very lives. This is a case where you want to have all 3 books on your night stand because the minute you finish one you want to pick up the next to see how the story progresses.

I didn't love this last book. Collins paints a very bleak picture of humanity. She tries to give some reprieve at the end, but it feels too short and too sad. I would have preferred a little more hope.

I liked this series in spite of the fact that I never grew to like the main character. I'd definitely recommend it. But I did wait until I'd finished the last book to buy it as a gift. Just in case the end killed the whole series. Which it didn't.
