04/19/2019 - This was my 3rd read of this book and it just rips my heart out every time. It is my favorite of the trilogy and I can't imagine that it would end any other way. ...more

I am falling so far behind on some of my goodreads reviews. I finished this book two months ago and never wrote about it. I loved this book, although I took some issues with it. The main storyline was my least favorite of the trilogy, although I liked the idea of "the arena" applied on a different scale. It was literally an arena, but it also felt like a metaphor for, you know, life, resistance, struggle, etc. The themes that have been building through the trilogy really come to a head in this b ...more

Re-read March 2012: I think most of the points below still stand on re-read. I'm interested to see how they will approach the 3rd movie.

March 2011: I never really knew about the hype surrounding these books. I had heard rumblings, but I tend to shy away from news about books I haven't read to avoid possible spoilers. It's nice to go into a series without expectations.

This book disturbed me really badly for some reason, over the other books. I only kept reading because I wanted to finish the trilogy! I will say that the ending tied up everything well, but I still finished the book feeling really upset.

I didn't love this last book. Collins paints a very bleak picture of humanity. She tries to give some reprieve at the end, but it feels too short and too sad. I would have preferred a little more hope. ...more

Like most trilogies, this one gets old as you go. I was happy to get to the rebellion, but was getting a bit tired of "mockingjay" and her role. But all in all, a good dystopian fiction. ...more

I haven't reviewed the other two books in The Hunger Games series, however, this one begged to have at least a few comments directed at it.

I came very close to giving this book 2 stars. The only thing that saved it was the ending...which was satisfying. That being said, I really believe that this series should have been at least 4 books long. Entirely too much takes place in this last book and a great deal of it feels rushed.
