This is one of this books that I kept coming across and could never decide if I wanted to read, so I finally did. Unfortunately those are hours I will never get back.
The first two hundred pages were slow going as I would read 30 pages and then get bored and go do something else, but I was intrigued enough to find out what happen to keep going.
There's a section in the middle that it spends up and is enjoyable, but the last hundred or so pages degenerates into this horrible whining mess. The end ...more

Tana French is wonderful at slowly building suspense and tension. By the end I was definitely biting my nails to find out what would happen, but I solved the mystery from a mile away. I'm considering going back to Gone Girl and docking it a star because this is much better composed and paced, and I still will only give it 4 stars. I need a mystery to really hoodwink me at least 2/3 of the way through the story to garner a 5 star rating. I may have unfortunately read too many of them to ever be s
