As a book, this was really a fantastic reading experience for me, but as a mystery, it had a few flaws, so it didn't quite make 5 stars.
The plot: A little girl is found murdered at an archaeological dig outside a small Dublin suburb, and Detectives Rob Ryan and Cassie Maddox catch the case.

In flipping through the pages of In the Woods by Tara French the first thing I noticed was the 400+ pages and incredibly small type. I knew then that this book would either A. Bore me to death or B. Be difficult to put down. It was the latter in this case.

This Edgar Award winner had such potential that it just didn't live up to. I came away quite dissatisfied by the non-resolution. Annoyed, too, as I had kept reading hoping there would be a solution to two crimes, not just one. That being said, I did enjoy the characters and their relationship as partners. I always enjoy police procedurals (except for the abundance of strong language that seems to accompany them) and didn't want to put this one down. I lost sleep for nothing, really. But I intend
