What Members Thought
This book started out really good and I was sucked in pretty quickly. Then it went sour for me. One reason was because I had the killer pegged almost immediately. I thought it was pretty damn obvious. And every clue that was uncovered kept proving my theory. I was actually getting extremely frustrated that the detectives didn't figure it out sooner. Certain things happened that I found extremely suspicious and was then annoyed when it was just brushed aside or not even given a second thought.

This book was maybe a bit too long for my taste, but I really liked the author's writing style and I'm looking forward to continuing on with this series.

I really enjoyed this mystery, but the resolutions were a bit too heartbreaking for me at the end--kind of a let down. One of the things I look for in a good book is how well a female author writes a male main character, and I found the writing of Detective Ryan to skew too feminine. Still, the author writes really well--enough for me to eventually come back to this series, I think.
While I really liked the crime drama detail of this book and the character development was very well done I really struggled with the ending of the book. I also had a hard time dealing with the death of the child just because I'm a mama and I have a hard time any child is hurt. I thought the book was over detailed in many places and that resulted in a feeling like the story needed to get up and moving in some places then there were times the plot felt rushed.
