On my way back from my sister's Colorado wedding, I saw this in an airport bookstore while I was looking for a good suspense read for my airplane. I don't read a lot of mysteries, and even if you don't either, it's worth looking at Tana French's tightly wound tale In the Woods.

The hook that pulled me in was the paragraph on the back that described a freaky scene reminiscent of The Blair Witch Project. Three 12-year-olds set out to explore the forest in their backyards in the summer in the 1950s.

In flipping through the pages of In the Woods by Tara French the first thing I noticed was the 400+ pages and incredibly small type. I knew then that this book would either A. Bore me to death or B. Be difficult to put down. It was the latter in this case.

This Edgar Award winner had such potential that it just didn't live up to. I came away quite dissatisfied by the non-resolution. But I intend ...more

This book had a promising start to a good mystery. But by the end of it, I couldn't stand the main character anymore. He made such a mess of things. There were 2 parts to the story, but only one part of it got resolved in the end. Disappointing. ...more

I really liked this although I found it to be kind of a slow read AND I figured it out pretty early on (and I never figure them out!). But the characters were great and I will definitely be reading the other books in the series.
