Post-apocalyptic zombie novels are not my usual reading fare; however, this was recommended to me and I'm so glad that I decided to give it a try! I was in Barnes & Noble and this book was on display with a bunch of other books that I have read. I had never seen it before (this is why I loooooove going into book stores - you never know what you'll find based on where its placed in the store). The cover intrigued me and I googled its goodreads / amazon ratings. I happen to do this every time I see a book of interest, because I need to know what I am getting myself in to. This book is a zombie thriller that I picked up after reading a couple Brontes! Ha! I love apocalyptic novels, and this one was smart and entertaining with an ending I really loved. Lots of interesting references to Greek mythology. I also really love when a male author nails a female narrative, which this author did really well. Definitely a fun read!
I wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't. At the start of this book, I was intrigued by Melanie's situation. However, after about 100 pages the book changes and becomes downright boring. I didn't find any of the characters to be all that interesting, it was hard to visualize what was happening at times, and the story just became ridiculous. Oh well, at least it was a fast read
