I don't know why, but I didn't feel the love. I struggled a lot with this one, I'm surprised I finished it at all.

Paris! A hot young guy with great hair! An awkward, adorable girl! These are the elements of "Anna and the French Kiss."
Anna was a good character- she was imperfect, naive, and all too human. At times she did strike me as being a little dumb/blonde, but she has to be admired for the way she hung on to her love for Etienne St. Clair practically all year. The wildly popular St. Clair - with a few personal demons of his own - drove me crazy by the way he spent time with Anna, but had a girlfriend, ...more

Despite being short, Étienne St. Clair not only has amazing hair and slightly crooked-cute bottom teeth, but also is a perfect combination of French maturity and American goofiness – with a British accent! Does it get any better? Anna doesn’t think so. But it could get worse. St. Clair (as everyone calls him) is taken.

Yes, it is a cute story. It's mushy and accordingly intense with teenaged angst. I also think it is a subliminal method for getting teenagers to learn vocabulary, rudimentary French, and history. There was a lot of info dumps in those areas; not complaining. I enjoyed the book despite not being in the demographic for it and so the never ending angst got a little old after a while.

I have read this book so many times now. I didn't realize I had already listened to the audiobook once this year. Oh well!

Grrr.... after heavy books sometimes I just want to loose myself in a fluffy book for a read. This was going well for the first half - American girl studying abroad in Paris her senior year.... Then lost the plot for me. Got a bit bored and felt the behavior was pretty juvenile. But what was I expecting?! It’s about high schoolers. Which I didn’t realize when I picked it.

This was a brilliant and beautiful book, and I don't remember it entirely in order now. But I remember being surprised that I loved it as much as I did. I loved how much the main character changed, and that while it is set up as a falling-in-love, girl-boy story, the love story is more tangential to the main character finding her feet and herself, than it is about her finding the boy and the answers to the mystery of the boy.
I really, really, really do need to go read the others in this series. ...more

You could think of adding other editions as cheating, but I feel more like it's getting credit for stuff I read. goal-wise.

3.5. A fairly easy read; was a nice break from the more dense books I tend to read
