I wanted to like this book so much more than I ended up liking this book. I should have taken it as a sign, when the first time I picked it up a few months ago, I read through a few chapters (yes, all the way past the test & The Fear Speech) and then put it down because I couldn't get into it.

I had seen the movie, but never understood the cult following. Reading the book, I can completely understand how people can get wrapped up in this universe. Herbert's characters are amazing well-developed and have fantastic interactions. The motivations of the characters are clear and intense. An excellent read.
