The books in this series aren't solid. I upgrade them to 4 star because they're strangely addictive. This book was no different. Whether it's the slowly-building friendships to romance of Simon and Meg, the development of other CS like Jean and Hope, the tenuous trust and friendship growing between the Lakeside Courtyard and their human "pack"--I like it all. I liked this better than the second book. The action and climax are not the author's strengths, but the book is still interesting, and there is more character development. It's interesting, too, for me that, I don't really care much about the protagonist anymore. It's like the story happens around her. But, I am interesting in many of the other characters, so that works for me. I still recommend this series. ...more

I love this series, and in the grand scheme of things, it was more enjoyable than many books. However, it was definitely not my favorite of the series. The character actions seemed a bit off and I missed the lightness found in some of the other books.
