I’m not really interested in the love triangle, but I do think the sociopolitical aspects of the series are interesting as well as the haziness of the truth about what happened in the past. If the book had grabbed me before the last third, I’d have thrown in another star. I’m definitely starting the next one right away though!

I am still trying to figure out my feelings about this book. I agree with Casey J Tuck, so much.
I have absolutely no feelings about Aspen, as we haven't really seen him as a character in this but as an option that exists mostly whenever Maxon isn't on scene. We don't see what he's doing, how he feels much about his life (except the once), or how he reacts to anything but the royal display. I just feel that because of that he's more a cardboard cutout than a person, which is sad given the amount ...more

Yawn - characters, world, plot. Plus lack of logical thinking by the "smart" main character.

There were several times when I got so exasperated with American I just had to shut my kindle and walk away. I wanted to yell at her to just shut up. Overall, a good story and I'm looking forward to starting The One soon, but I think I enjoyed The Selection more over this one. Also, just a side note to all YA authors, enough with the freaking love triangles already!
