Setting - The setting in L.A. Candy is absolutely believable; every scene setting is clearly detailed and easy to imagine. The glamorous backdrop is a little at odds in the beginning of the novel when the main characters are supposed to be poor, but after they move and start receiving money for the show, things make more sense. I don't watch reality TV but my brain needed a break in between all the intellectual reading and writing I've been doing. I have tried to read high-powered party girl chick lit on several occasions and I've never enjoyed it. There was always something missing from the narration, like likable characters, for example. This book was actually the most readable form of HPPG chick lit I've ever read. Plus, it is the definition of a quick, easy read. ...more
