Claudette and I read this when we started a book club and were lowly assistants climbing the corporate ladder (which we subsequently fell off). The book is much better than the movie in describing how horrific being an assistant can truly be. Chained to the desk, having to pee? Anyone been there?
This is fun, light reading that skewers the upper echelons of the fashion world and highlights how easy it is to get caught up in the petty crap at an all-consuming job. It's not great literature, but it's fun.

i started it...lots of references to pop culture...then when they made a grevious wrong reference to pop culture i stopped reading
fun book...quick read. great beach/airplane book!
