I think it's all been said about this book but just to add my two cents, I agree with everyone who loved it. I read it slowly because I knew from the first pages that I wanted to savor her journey and because, even though the writing skips along enjoyably, it also seemed to help me relax and breath more deeply. I listened to this on my iPhone while I ran over the last few weeks. I just really didn't enjoy this book. If it had been in book form, I would have quit long ago. Lots I just spaced out when listening to.
The author just comes across selfish & childish - and running away from her problems rather than trying to sort them out. In actuality, she was given an advance on a book deal to write this book, which financed her travels. It doesn't seem like she really "gave up" anything to search for her so ...more

I couldn't even finish it. I just didn't care anymore!! The memoir was painful and slow to read.

There is a difference between living your life and later someone decides it's memoir-worthy and living your life with the memoir contract in hand, trying to figure out how to make it interesting or, in this case, enlightening.
