It's hard to know what to say about Tolkien -- either you love him or hate him, I suspect. I certainly know people who would drop this book like a hot potato after two pages, and others, including me, who read it over again every few years. Although I'm generally a fast reader, I do hear the words in my head, and never more so than with Tolkien, when I am immersed in Middle-Earth. I've been watching the Lord of the Rings series movies with Randy and he convinced me to finally pick up this book and read it. I am glad he did. It was good to read after having seen most of the LoTR series since I was familiar with the characters and places. That helped me get through what may have been an overwhelming number of characters. I enjoyed reading it - and it was a good change of pace for me from my usual selections. Thanks for "making" me read it Randy!
