Hoooooly cow - this book is a roller coaster ride. We meet Rachel - a total train wreck herself. She was fired, divorced and a raging alcoholic. Every day she takes the train into London and looks out the window at a happy couple living near the tracks. She imagines their perfect life. One day however, she sees something that makes her question everything. And that is where things go downhill. I am jealous of anyone who hasn't read this yet - it is THAT good. The characters are all so broken, it's saddening how disjointed people can get from their own emotions. I loved the unreliable narrator. It's such a change from the tradition whip-smart, feisty heroine. The story dragged on and if it wasn't for the audio, I probably would have given it up a while ago. It jumps around and no ones thoughts are very clear. It's easier to attach to the story & character when there is a real voice telling the tale.

I'm not sure why everyone got so excited over this book. Granted I didn't finish it, but I labored through over 100 pages of drivel and hated all the characters. Every time I put it down it was an effort to pick it back up so I finally gave up.

3.5 stars. I'm not really into these types of books and I figured it out fairly early on, but it was still a good read.
