Ugh. I don't read a lot of thrillers (the only other one I can think of is Girl with the Dragon Tattoo which I liked), but I think I can still safely say that it's not a genre issue, I'm just not a fan of this one. I like a good mystery, I looovee unreliable narrators, I am also okay with reading about mental illness and addiction, but somehow those things didn't add up to a positive in this book for me. Mostly, I think it's because there isn't a single character in this that I can relate to. Al

I wanted to like it more. This book is good, but it's no Gone Girl. The Scooby Doo ending where the villain describes at length why s/he did it was a bit contrived.

Good thriller, though the twist at the end wasn't that hard to spot.

20% in and there's no mystery yet, just a whole lot of really cringey social interactions. I don't think this book is for me, and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who gets stressed out by embarrassing situations in fiction.
