Jellicoe Road is really two stories in one: the events of twenty-two years ago and how they affected five friends, and the senior year of Taylor Markham, who has a new position of power in the Territory Wars. First the good: I loved the characters and found that I cared what happened to them. I thought the writing was amazing because the author is unfolding a mystery throughout the book and she doesn't spell it out for the reader, but you feel like you are connecting the dots on your own. She has different ways of telling the story and it keeps you reading. It wasn't paranormal, which is a nice break from what I've been reading. The characters felt ...more

It took me a long while to get into this book (probably 100 pages or so), but once I did I was hooked. There was nothing amazing about it and I figured out the "mystery" (if you could call it that) way before the story ended. However, the author had a way of transporting the reader into the lives of the characters and for that I'll give it 3 stars.
