Roxane Gay is one of those writers that is very good at turning things on their head, examining them from a different yet still doesn't make you feel stupid for only seeing the surface. Her deconstruction of 50 Shades of Gray made me laugh out and cheer. Her topics for these essays vary from personal, (her love of scrabble) to general (Tyler Perry and music) each one showing me something a little different.
