Now this...this was good. Poetic vignettes of Kaysen's time at McLean with sharp character studies of the people around her. I never had any trouble remembering who was who because they all came across so sharply. In this way a little like Michael Patrick MacDonald, Kaysen herself sometimes seemed the most intangible. She doesn't dwell on the injustices of her life at the time (that English teacher! Not a word of blame), but has a very keen eye for the hypocrisies of the mental health system and
